The new sensory room at Charleroi Area School District is a feast for the senses

Multi-colored lights swirl against the walls and fiber-optic threads lying across the floor sparkle and slowly shift colors.

In one corner, the rumbling vibration from the brightly lit towers of bubbles can be heard while melodic, soothing New Age music floats down from the ceiling, enveloping the room and making it seem to gently pulsate.

The new sensory room at Charleroi Area School District is a feast for the senses. The therapy room might look like a playground of light, color and sound to most people, but for children with autism and other developmental disorders, it is a comforting shelter from the harsh effects that the real world has on their senses.
